Coal Creek Trail and Open Space
The regional trail along Coal Creek through 400 acres of Town open space, about 10 miles of concrete, soft-surface and crusher-fine trail from Reliance Park south to the Boulder County trail toward Lafayette, Louisville and Superior.
Coal Creek bisects Erie from north to south and the Town’s 400-acre open space along it, in three units, carries the Coal Creek Regional Trail: 4.7 miles of concrete, 2.9 of soft surface and 2.5 of crusher fines, with benches and pet-waste stations. At the south end it joins Boulder County’s 14-mile Coal Creek Trail toward Lafayette, Louisville and Superior. Trailheads at Reliance Park (900 County Road 1.5), the Leon A. Wurl Service Center at Bonnell and Lasnik, the disc golf course on Erie Parkway, and Lehigh Park. Sunrise to sunset; dogs on leash; coyotes about; no horses.
